Buying a Pram Newborn

Prams and pushchairs pushchairs are multi-functional, flexible companions of caregivers and parents. They are the co-pilots for your child's next adventure.

A pram newborn is dedicated to newborns and babies. It has the most solid, sturdy carrycot with soft and safe walls.

A pram comes with a bassinet. However, it can be converted into a stroller when the baby is ready.

Safety

By keeping the airways open, it lowers the risk for SUID (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or Asphyxiation). Most prams can be used as early as the moment of birth. They have seats that recline to lay flat for infants. It can also be converted to a pushchair for older children.

The suspension of the pram will determine how smooth it rides. A pram that has many suspensions is likely to be more expensive but it might be worth paying for this feature if you intend to use your pram daily for a few years or more.

Always read the instructions and read the warning labels on your stroller or pram. When not in use, you should place your stroller in a safe area away from any potential hazards like bicycles, traffic or other people. It is recommended to remove any bags or objects from the handles as they could cause your baby to be caught or suffocate.

A pram or stroller should not be left unattended with a child in it, even if they are asleep. They can get wriggling and become trapped or the pram could roll away and they might be injured. Hanging bags or other objects from the handles isn't a good thing since they could fall and strike your child in the head.

Comfort

Having the option of lie flat seating is an absolute necessity for babies, because it helps improve back and lung development. A lot of prams come with a carrycot or cocoon that creates a warm nest-like atmosphere for your newborn and can be easily detached from the frame. Some seats, such as the bucket-style seat on the egg2, don't recline completely flat, but provide a comfortable ride for your child.

Some prams come with an additional bassinet or seat for infants. This lets you easily switch between the sleeping and sitting positions depending on the requirements of your baby. This is often called a 'travel system' and is the first option you should test with your newborn.

Choose a stroller with two shoulder straps, ideally padded and a five-point safety harness. It should fit your baby's body snugly. Check that there are no gaps or areas where fingers can be trapped. Also, ensure that the buckles are simple for older children to use. It's also worth considering whether you'd like a pram that faces the parent or not. It's ideal for keeping an eye on your child and helping them feel secure by the familiarity of their parents.
