Saab Key Programming

Saab cars built since about 1994 feature an immobilizer mechanism that is based on codes for keys. To add an additional key, you need a new transponder and special programming. This is usually done at the dealer using a special Tech2 diagnostic tool.

It can be costly. This is why it is important to always keep a spare key in your possession.

Transponder key

The transponder key is a piece of hardware equipped with an electronic chip. It transmits a signal to the car when it is inserted into ignition. The car then analyzes the signal to determine whether it is identical to the one on the key. If both signals match the car will then unlock itself and begin.
