UPVC Replacement Door Handles

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever door handle is a contemporary handle that can be used on replacement or new doors. This style of handle is available in various styles and finishes. A variety of manufacturers provide this handle including Avocet, ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

The handles are inline and they use the same spindle and screws to secure them. They are easily fitted on a new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.

The spring lever design allows the handle to be set and angled to provide a comfortable grip and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested to 200 000 cycles. Lever Pad

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are usually found on uPVC doors, but they can also be found on other types of door. The cylinder lock is operated with a key that unlocks the cylinder's casing. This exposes pins that can be aligned with those in the lock and allow them to turn the camera that rotates, opening the door. Euro cylinders are available with up to six pins. Internal and external doors require different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is essential. It is based on the amount of use your doors and handles receive. For instance, exterior doors require a higher security cylinder, whilst internal doors can be secured with an ordinary cylinder. Certain cylinders are equipped with additional features that increase security, like anti-drill or anti bump properties.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is the correct size for your door, it must be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the hole in the center of the fixing screw to the end of the cylinder, including the thumb turn if you have one. If you cannot measure with the lock in position, you can take it out of it. A cylinder that protrudes beyond the handle and escutcheon might be susceptible to attacks like lock snapping, so it is essential that it is not too long.

The design of most newer cylinders has anti-drilling and bump resistance features. These are designed to reduce the chances of an attack by forcing the cylinder to rotate in the opposite direction. This can help stop the attack and protect your doors.

Certain cylinders are made to withstand snapping. This is an increasingly common method of attack on cylinders where the break line inside the lock is attacked using a special tool to break off the front of the cylinder to allow the door to open. This is a much faster and easier way to gain access than through the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves no evidence of the break-in which could make it difficult to prove insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is found in the base plate of the door handle. It provides a sprung solution to help return your multipoint lock handles to their normal position after using. The handles had no spring and would drop when the locking mechanism was disengaged. This component is the most effective way to address this issue. It also prevents your door from getting stuck in the open or closed position, as they are difficult to close manually.

These spring cassettes are specially designed to be used with multipoint locks sprung but they won't work with multipoint handles that are not sprung and you must have a custom hole cut into the backplate to allow them to fit (please check the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes are a replacement for damaged or missing cassettes that are in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are available as one unit. They feature a square cut out that can accommodate an 8mm shaft.
