I did quite well against several players at this game, although it took some time to get used to the unusual ball groups - it was difficult at first to get the "big picture" of your pattern when some of your balls are stripes and some are solids. There is no prescribed order the balls have to go in, simply the first one to finish his or her group wins. Player B cannot see the ball rolling, but player A can shout directions (move left, move right) to their partner in order to move the cup in the ball's path. The other balls can be arranged at random, so long as the diamond has gold at its tip and gold in its heart.Remember, the colors are the same as in 8-ball. The 1-ball is yellow, the 2-ball is blue, the 3-ball is red. After the break, one of the players will have the even balls and the other the odd balls, meaning one player has to sink a total of 7 balls and the other 8 (and I'll have a post someday about other asymetrical games that can be played on a pool table). The billiard balls, formerly made of ivory or Belgian clay, are now usually plastic; they each measure from about 21/4 to 23/8 inches (5.7 to 6 cm) in diameter, the larger balls being used in carom billiards.

I do find it interesting that the name of the game is carrom, in my opinion very likely to be etymologically linked to the billiards term "carom". Looked online and found a pool hall about 35 min walk away from my local secret headquarters.When I walked up I was happily surprised to find a snooker hall, of a different name. Some texts state the name of this game was "Pall Mall", others do not name it. Penalty kubb placement also adds spice to the game. In the event that it goes out of bounds once again, the opposing team takes control of the kubb, which is now called a penalty kubb. In the 1990s, kubb became more popular on the mainland, and since then it's caught on with game lovers in other parts of the world, what is billiards particularly in Great Britain and Australia. Later this game would be known as "Het Kolven" and then as "Kolf".

Would have loved to watch some bangers trying to play 8-ball on twelve foot tables for a bit, but then again, it would probably be detrimental to the perceived approachability or our beloved game.
