Saab Key Programming

Saab cars manufactured since 1994 come with an immobilizer system based on coded keys. A new transponder is required for the addition of an extra key, as well as special programming. This is usually done by the dealer using a special Tech2 diagnostic tool.

This can be expensive. You should always keep an extra set of keys available.

Transponder key

The transponder is a piece of key equipped with an electronic chip. This chip sends a signal when the key is placed in the ignition. The car then examines the signal to determine whether it is the same as the one that is in the key. If the signals match it will unlock and begin. This is a great method to deter auto theft and keep your car safe from thieves.

Jump starting the battery

A majority of people keep an assortment of tools in their trunks to jump start a vehicle in the event of an emergency, but it may not be the best idea for newer cars. These vehicles are equipped with digital and computers that communicate with each other. Start the vehicle that is working and let it run for about two minutes before connecting the cables to the battery that is not working.
