Registering a Pushchair Sale

The purchase of used baby gear is risky, even if it's only been used for a few months. That's because, unlike new products, secondhand goods aren't required to register with the Consumer Product Safety Commission. There's no way to determine if a product was recalled. Recalls can be triggered by many reasons, including defects in design or failure by a manufacturer to conform to federal standards. If you purchase a brand pushchair Stroller new stroller, you'll have the option to register it and be informed of any recalls that could occur.

This rule establishes a mandatory standard for carriages and strollers as per section 104 of the Danny Keysar Child Product Safety Notification Act as amended by the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA). It incorporates as a reference to the most current voluntary standard created by the American Society for pushchairs from Birth Testing and best travel Pushchair Materials (ASTM), ASTM F833-13b. It establishes standards and test methods to minimize the risk posed by these products. CPSC staff worked closely with ASTM participants in the creation of this rule.
