3 wheel all Terrain buggy Wheel Double Buggy

The Fox 5 is an all-terrain stroller that is ideal for parents who want to go off-road. It features a fantastic suspension and huge, puncture-proof wheels.

Our test subject Claire was impressed by the neat packaging, easy-to-open and thought it was to be one of the quickest and most simple pieces of baby equipment to put together. She took it for a spin around some tough terrain and was extremely pleased with its performance.

Seats

The majority of 3 wheeler pushchairs wheel double buggies start life as single pushchairs, although some can convert to take an additional seat or carrycot by converting adapters (these are typically more common in tandem buggies). You'll also find that some models will allow you to add a ride-on board for older children who wish to walk but require some help.

For a lightweight option that is ideal for city streets, take a look at the Joie Evalite Duo. It's easy to maneuver and has a deep basket with plenty of storage space. It can hold twins as young as birth and accept two car seats or seats and a carrycot. However, the seats need to be oriented forward and there's no room for a shopping bag under which is why you'll need a sidepack for that.

The iCandy Orange double buggies are one of the most sought-after available. This is due to their superb comfort. It's a true all terrain pushchair, with soft suspension to make smooth work of bumpy surfaces. It offers 30 different seating configurations and a built-in board for older children who prefer walking, and a "cinema mode that raises the back seats for better visibility.

Alternatively, the phil&teds dot is a great single buggy from day 1 which is then able to take 2 (or 3!) Different configurations are possible. This is especially helpful if you have an infant in a car seat because the frame can be fitted with a wedgie for optimum position, and also car seat adapters to various brands.

Suspension

The suspension of a double 3-wheel buggy will determine how easily your child/children and you can push it. A smooth ride is essential because babies feel every bump in the road, especially if it's on rough terrain such as grass or dirt roads. Certain models also have front wheels that lock to assist with maneuvering and getting over obstacles like curbs.

Some models use air-filled tyres which will give you a great all-terrain experience, but they can be susceptible to punctures, so ensure you have spares in the trunk. Others have foam or gel tyres, designed to take the bumps and are less prone to punctures however, you might find them to be a bit stiff and uncomfortable on your child's back when you choose to jog.

One thing that people love about a quality triple wheeled double buggy is its storage capabilities. Certain models, like the Roma Atlas offer a generously-sized basket as well as two handy zip pockets inside the hood to keep your phone and keys in reach. It's also designed to cope with slightly rough terrain making it a great choice for family walks and all-terrain walks.

Other models, such as the UPPAbaby Vista 2, offer plenty of space and possibility of transporting twins or a child and a toddler. (This is possible thanks to their 'PiggyBack' system). It's the most compact side-by-side double on the market and comes with some impressive technology that includes game-changing LED visibility lights on each side of the buggy frame to increase safety in dim lighting conditions.

The Joie Evalite Duo, a lightweight stroller that can hold twins from birth and is world-facing with a lie-flat seat It's something completely different. The clever frame can expand to accommodate a second seat, but still weighs only 11kg. This makes it simple to lift and move. It can be used with the car seat, a carrycot or both. This allows you to enjoy the best of both worlds.
