It is important that parents are involved in the titration process and keep an eye out for their child's behavior so they can inform the doctor whether the medication is working or causing adverse effects.

If you decide to return to NHS treatment you will be issued a private prescription for your medication. You will be required to pay the pharmacy. This is not included in the consultation fee. You will be required to attend regular appointments every six months to monitor your medication - this includes blood pressure and pulse readings. Annual exams are also required.

Follow-up appointments

Once the assessment has been completed, you'll be able to make follow up appointments with your psychiatrist, if appropriate. The appointment will usually be conducted by video conference using zoom. However, in certain instances, it could be possible for an audio-only consultation to be conducted (again with an additional cost).

In this session, we'll discuss treatment options and decide on a custom-made ADHD medication titration program. This will include an assessment of your medication dose and an examination of any negative side effects you may be experiencing. These titrations cost PS150 for face-toface sessions and PS60 by video or phone consultation. Medication costs are additional and are paid directly to the pharmacy.

The psychiatrist will ask questions regarding your family history, the impact of your ADHD symptoms on your life and any relationship problems or mental health issues that you might be experiencing. ADHD can be a genetic condition, so it's important to look into your family's background to determine if you are at a higher chance of developing this condition.

It is important to be honest and transparent with your doctor during the assessment, since the information they receive will be used to determine whether your ADHD meets the diagnostic criteria. This is a crucial step, since the wrong diagnosis can result in an inappropriate prescription of medication.

If you've decided you'd like to receive treatment for your ADHD, we will then arrange a follow up appointment with one of our psychiatrists who specialize in this field. If you'd like to begin treatment right away you can start treatment at the time of diagnosis. Or you can wait two weeks to consider the implications of the diagnosis and the options available to you.

If you aren't sure which one you prefer, we suggest that you talk to your GP prior to scheduling your private assessment as some providers have different policies about whether they require an GP referral letter or not. We also suggest to confirm that your GP accepts a 'Shared Care Agreement which means that once you are discharged from the clinic you will be sent back to them to get the prescription for the medication.

Medication
